BC Plumbers are an IQP for backflow preventer devices
What is a backflow prevention device?
A backflow prevention device is installed on pipes where there is the potential for backflow to occur. Backflow involves water flowing backwards from your pipes into the public water system with the risk of causing contamination to the public water system.
When are backflow prevention devices needed?
Many commercial premises require a backflow prevention device, including food processing and other manufacturing plants, hairdressers and laundries. Residential properties may require one for swimming pools, spa baths and grey water tanks connected to the household plumbing as well as other situations.
Are backflow prevention devices regulated?
Yes. A Building Warrant of Fitness (BWoF) requires property owners for sites considered high-risk and medium-risk to have the backflow prevention device tested annually by a registered independently qualified person (or firm) (IQP).
How can BC Plumbers help?
BC Plumbers is a registered IQP. This means our staff can test your backflow prevention device and issue you with a code of compliance certificate needed for your BWoF. Our plumbers will also determine the best backflow device for your property and provide ongoing maintenance and servicing of the device.
